As the primary source of federal support for the nation’s libraries and museums, the Institute of Museum and Library Services supports exemplary stewardship of the nation’s collections and promotes the use of technology to facilitate the discovery of natural and cultural heritage. The Museums for America grant program may be of interest to organizations with small natural history collections since each year, awards ranging from $5,000 to $150,000 are made to help with collections management, conservation surveys, treatments, environmental improvements, rehousing, professional development/training, digitization, and collections information management. In this webinar, we will describe the goals of the grant program, examine institutional eligibility requirements, explore the types of projects supported, identify matching requirements, and offer suggestions for putting together a competitive application.
